The Possum Play Couch is Australia's ultimate modular play-couch for kids. Built out of light-weight but hyper-durable materials, the Possum is really much more than a couch... it can be configured to turn into a fort, castle, ship, obstacle course, reading nook… your kids’ imaginations are the limit!

The base cushions are attached to each other so you can flip, fold, stack and scale The Possum Play Couch however you want to arrange it.

The Possum is squeeeeezed extra small for ease of shipping, and it can be a little shy when it first meets your family. This helps us transport efficiently and makes for some serious fun unboxing when it arrives and springs to life!

We suggest you give it a few days to fully grow to its correct shape - but absolutely you can start playing right away, but expect the shape to improve over the first few days.

We recommend you don’t leave your Possum Play Couch in its box for longer than you have to, and no more than 12 weeks after delivery.

Possums purchased from late-September onwards are fine to keep in the box until Christmas Day!

The Possum play sofa measures 84cm wide, by 168cm long in its standard configuration. The base cushions are 22cm above the ground and 53cm in height to the top of the cushions, in standard configuration. To see the dimensions of each piece check out The Possum product page HERE.

We see lots of families fold, stack, display and store The Possum in different ways, so you might configure differently to fit your home.

Possum Play Couches are made of some of the most durable and safe materials on the market!

Our play sofa cushions are made entirely out of foam - no hard bars, bolts, of chunky bits to get hurt on. Our foam is CertiPUR-US^® certified, meaning it is made free of mercury, lead, and formaldehyde; safe for your home and the most precious people in it.

The Possum covers are made from brushed microsuede. We love microsuede because it is super durable (stain resistant, machine washable, shrink-resistant) whilst also being super soft and smooth against the skin! Our textiles are STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified meaning they are tested to the highest safety standards and free from any harmful substances and dyes.

It sure is! The Possum is made with the highest quality foam and fabric in the world (CertiPUR-US^® certified foam, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified textiles). This means you can rest easy with the knowledge it's free from harmful nasties.

Multiple play sofas mean the possible number of builds is even bigger. Think double-decker-bus, two-storey-castle, double-hulled-pirate-ship bigger… but we also designed The Possum to be a world of fun if you’ve just gone one, so you can always start there!

The Possum Play sofa is designed to cater to a range of age groups and is designed to grow with your family for years of everyday play.

We typically say that ages 6 months to 10 years is the ideal age.

We see young babies and toddlers build gross motor skills by rolling and crawling over The Possum, school aged kids using their imaginations to dream up and construct all sorts of play worlds, and older kids using it for reading nooks, movie nights, and in their designated chill spaces. We've also had many reports of parents and grandparents loving The Possum as much as their little ones (hello spare bed, extended lounge area, tumbling with the kids, and still lots of fort building...) so there's really no age limit!

Self-Managed Funds

2. Email us on hello@possumplay.com.au with your Order Number, NDIS Participant Name, NDIS Participant Number

3. We'll email you an NDIS suitable invoice you can use to lodge your NDIS claim on the myplace portal or with your Plan Manager

Plan-Managed Funds

1. Email us on hello@possumplay.com.au with your NDIS Participant Name, NDIS Participant Number, the items and colours you would like, and your shipping address and phone number

2. We'll email you an NDIS suitable invoice you can provide to your Plan Manager

3. When we receive funds from the Plan Manager, we'll process your order and send your items to you

Please note as colours and products are limited, we can only reserve the items in your order once we have received remittance from your Plan Manager

We ship Possum Play items all across Australia & New Zealand. Shipping for The Possum Play Couch starts from $40 to metro areas in Australia. Enter your address details at checkout to calculate your shipping rate.

Please check individual product pages for our current shipping times. They are stated in blue text above the 'Add to Cart' button.

Once shipped, your order will usually arrive within 2-8 business days depending where you live. Typically 2-5 business days in major metro cities, and 4-8 business days outside of major cities and to New Zealand.

We ship via courier and you can track the progress of your Possum Play Couch order on the tracking number we send you when it ships!

We'll send you an SMS and email to the details you provided when you checked out to let you know when your order has hit the road and is on its way to you. You can track its process (and start planning those forts!) via the tracking link.

We can leave your delivery somewhere safe if you're not home. Please note during COVID-19 most couriers in Australia have defaulted to contactless delivery.

If there is not a safe space to leave your delivery the courier will take your package with them to the nearest depot and contact you to either collect from there or rearrange a delivery at the time you are home.

This is the fun part! We know you don't want a huge box arriving at your doorstep and often will want to hide The Possum away until it's ready to gift, so your Possum Play Couch will come vacuum rolled and compressed into a very manageable box (31cm x 31cm x 90cm), which weighs 14kgs. We use the highest quality dense foam and have put it through rigorous testing to make sure it bounces back into shape with no damage after compression! You've got some seriously fun unboxing infront of you watching The Possum emerge from its box!

We always recommend ordering early to avoid any delivery stress! We ship with Australia Post and are operating off their advised Christmas shipping cutoffs below.

*AusPost guidelines are for metro areas, please allow additional time and place orders as soon as possible for regional areas. Please note we do not currently offer express shipping to WA or NT. 

Our warehouse elves will be working right up to Christmas Eve, so if you order after the cutoff dates above we will still dispatch in stock items in 1-3 business days, we just can’t be confident they will be delivered in time for Christmas.

• Small spills and spot cleaning can be done with a damp cloth or furniture cleaner.
• For a full-clean, our microsuede covers can be popped in the wash! Make sure your machine is on cold wash color-safe detergent and a gentle cycle, and then line dry (no tumble-drying) to avoid shrinkage.

The Possum loves everyone in the family, furry members included, and they seem to love us too! Like any furniture, pet-hair can cling to The Possum, but our microsuede material is super easy to clean and a vacuum or lint-roller will have it looking fresh.

Our covers are water resistant and able to withstand small spills and accidents, but are not waterproof and serious soakings should be avoided. If your couch gets wet, remove the covers and pop it in a well ventilated space to dry out.

Ahhh the great outdoors! It’s fine to bring your Possum Play Couch to a dry outdoor place (like a deck or garage) but don’t leave it there. The Possum is not waterproof so overnight dew or a rain shower is not its friend, and sunlight can fade the fabric covers.

Fold up The Possum for simple storage (or a trip to grandmas house) -- the base cushions can all stack or you can flatten them out to slide underneath most beds

All products sold in Australia and New Zealand are covered by rights and warranties under standard consumer law, and The Possum Play Couch is no different! We provide a one-year warranty, and you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, or to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality. If you have a problem with your Possum Play Couch please contact us within 7 days of delivery on hello@possumplay.com.au. Please note that products that are not unboxed within 90 days of delivery will void our product warranty. 

Please note that these guarantees cover physical flaws and manufacturing defects, but do not cover normal wear and tear or damages caused by alterations and improper use.

The Possum Play Planks are made of sustainably sourced birch plywood

The Possum Play Planks set includes:

- 2 long straight beams
- 2 long wavy beams
- 2 short straight beams
- 2 curved beams
- 8 double connectors
- 2 single connectors

For a limited time all Plank Sets come with a FREE Canvas travel and storage bag

Each connector base is covered with anti-slip, anti-scratch material to help  protect your floors from scratches. We always advise supervised play on hard surfaces. 

Each balance beam in the Planks Set is tested bear weight up to 70kg
